Frenchman Butte Cairn

cairn on ridge 22 Kb

The plaque on this cairn tells the story of the battle. The soldiers tried to advance through the valley, but they ran into a small stream and a marshy area. Both horses and men sunk into the swamp. Also, in that area, they found they were vulnerable, in full view of the Cree who looked down on them from this ridge.
